South Atlantic Bank Announces the Addition of Etta M. Hoffman as Teller

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, November 2009 – Etta M. Hoffman has joined South Atlantic Bank as Teller in the bank’s Murrells Inlet location.

Hoffman comes to South Atlantic Bank with over 35 years experience in the banking industry. A native of Bucks County, PA, Hoffman started her career in banking at First Pennsylvania Bank. In 1990, she came to the Grand Strand area where she worked for Anchor Bank for 14 years, before it merged with Carolina First.

Before joining South Atlantic Bank, Hoffman was with Plantation Federal. She will work as part-time teller at South Atlantic Bank’s Murrells Inlet location.

South Atlantic Bank Announces Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Murrells Inlet Location

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, October 15, 2009 – South Atlantic Bank has announced the official ribbon cutting ceremony planned for the bank’s newest building in Murrells Inlet.

Planned for Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 2:00pm, the ceremony will mark the long-awaited completion of the bank’s newest building on the corner of Tournament Boulevard and Highway 17 Bypass. Bank officials expect local dignitaries and chamber of commerce leaders to attend the ceremony.

South Atlantic Bank opened a temporary office at this location on December 15, 2008 and used this facility while completing construction on their permanent office.

The new building is a 10,000 square foot, two-story facility. The first floor is dedicated solely to the bank while the second floor is available for leasing.

The Murrells Inlet office offers full-service banking including retail, commercial and mortgage lending; merchant card services, night depository, no 2:00pm cut-off and no-fee ATM’s anywhere in the U.S. for South Atlantic Bank customers.

South Atlantic Bank Welcomes Jewell Singleton

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, July 2009 – South Atlantic Bank is proud to welcome Jewell Singleton to their growing staff.

A native of Myrtle Beach, Singleton joins South Atlantic Bank as Personal Banker. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business where she received her degree in Marketing, with an emphasis in Accounting.

During the summer of 2008, Jewell served as an intern for South Atlantic Bank and will now continue to work with the company on a full time basis.

Local Restaurant and Businesses Come Together to Host Firefighter Appreciation Fundraiser

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, June 15, 2009 – Gordon Biersch Brewery & Restaurant will host a Sommerbrau tapping party in appreciation of our local firefighters’ efforts during the recent wildfires.

Sponsored by Full Steam Ahead and South Atlantic Bank, the event’s proceeds will go to the firefighters’ charity of choice, the South Carolina Burned Children’s Fund. Planned for Tuesday, June 23, 2009 beginning at 5:30pm, the event will include complimentary beer and picnic buffet for Passport members or with suggested donations. The Potato Heads band will perform from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Four-person relay races and a watermelon-eating contest will begin at 7:30pm. All contest proceeds will go to the charity.

Plyler of South Atlantic Bank Named South Carolina's Young Banker of the Year

Myrtle Beach, Souh Carolina, June 5, 2009 – South Atlantic Bank is proud to announce Scott Plyler as South Carolina’s Young Banker of the Year as presented by the South Carolina Bankers Association.

Plyler is President of South Atlantic Bank. He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and is a graduate of both The Graduate Banking School of the South at Louisiana State University and the South Carolina Bankers School.

A resident of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Scott Plyler is a leader in his own right. Scott has been in the banking arena for over 15 years and has been on various boards from the Myrtle Beach area Chamber of Commerce to the South Carolina Banker School. He currently serves as Chairman of the Banker’s School in Columbia, South Carolina and has lead South Atlantic Bank to over $100 million in Assets in the short period they have been open.

St James Shark Club Raises Funds

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, May 28, 2009 – Volunteers representing St. James schools, with the help of South Atlantic Bank, took advantage of the 2009 bike rally to raise money for the St. James Shark Club.

The bank’s newest location in Murrells Inlet is positioned across the street from one of the most popular rally locations along the Grand Strand. South Atlantic Bank provided their parking lot as an avenue for volunteers to raise funds for the schools. A fee per vehicle was charged and $3,000 was raised.

“We thought this year’s bike rally was a perfect opportunity to help give back to our community and schools. It was an honor to provide our facilities to the St. James Shark Club volunteers. We were very excited to present the check and provide funding for our local athletic programs,” states Senior Vice President of South Atlantic Bank, Doug Arseneau.

South Atlantic Bank representatives presented a check to the St. James Shark Club on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in the St. James High School media center. School principal Joe Dowling, coaches, athletes and St. James Shark Club members were in attendance.

South Atlantic Bank Announces the Addition of Jackie Ketchem

Ketchem to their growing staff. Ketchem comes to South Atlantic Bank with over 25 years experience in the mortgage business. She holds a South Carolina Real Estate License and is a South Carolina Insurance Producer, licensed in property, casualty, surety and marine.

Prior to joining South Atlantic Bank, Ketchem was a Personal Lines Agent with Waccamaw Insurance Services, Inc. She also worked with Carolina First Bank in the Mortgage Loan Department.

Ketchem is a native of West Virginia having most recently lived in Manassas, Virginia. She and her husband, a retired Washington, DC firefighter, have lived in the Myrtle Beach area for the past 14 years.

Stephanie N. Griffin Joins South Atlantic Bank

South Atlantic Bank Takes Shape in Murrells Inlet

In the past three months, the construction of the new branch in Murrells Inlet has been moving forward at a steady pace with an expected completion date of September 2009. The recent addition of a permanent sign and the beginning stages of steel framing have served as a representation of the bank’s progress. Designed and constructed by Haynes Signs in Murrells Inlet, South Atlantic Bank’s new sign is a positive enhancement to the intersection of Highway 17 Bypass and Tournament Boulevard.

With the construction of this new branch in Murrells Inlet, and the groundbreaking of another soon to come in the heart of Myrtle Beach, South Atlantic Bank is leading the way for an unprecedented second year of success.

“We have experienced significant growth and great customer response during our initial sixty days of operation in our modular building,” states President, Scott Plyler. “With the recent addition of our permanent signage and the construction of our building well underway, the community can see our commitment to the South Strand.”

The newly constructed portion of the building provides a glimpse of what is to come. ESD Architecture and Design out of Charlotte, NC is the architect and interior designer for the new branch while Dargan Construction Company of Myrtle Beach is the general contractor. South Atlantic Bank received approval for the new location from the FDIC and the South Carolina Board of Financial Institutions on May 13, 2008.

While construction is underway, a full-service modular branch is open for business at 11019 Tournament Boulevard, at the corner of Tournament Boulevard and Highway 17 Bypass.

South Atlantic Bank Announces Addition of Michelle Thomas

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, January 26, 2009 – South Atlantic Bank officials are pleased to announce the addition of Michelle Thomas to their growing staff.

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas has over 21 years of banking experience from Computer Operations to Cash Management. While in Pittsburgh, she worked for Dollar Bank.

Thomas holds an Associates Degree in Specialized Technology for Fine Art and Computer Management. She has lived in the Myrtle Beach area since 2002.

Most recently, Thomas worked with Beach First National Bank, where she held a position in Deposit Services. Lauren Hackert Joins South Atlantic Bank as Teller

A native of Westchester, NY, Hackert is a graduate of Westchester Community College with a degree in Liberal Arts. Prior to joining South Atlantic Bank, Hackert worked for Burke, an oil company located in Westchester.
